One day in Landingpeople notice their fire lizards are behaving strangely, almost as if they are frightened. The way that telepathy can blur the otherwise comfortable lines of free will could be znne interesting topic. However, this is a great book and I have thoroughly enjoyed reliving it. I love this book sooooo much. Then some of the colonists noticed that the small, dragonlike lizards that inhabited their new world were joining the fight against Thread, breathing fire on it and teleporting to safety.

She is a great world-builder kccaffrey, and I loved this book especially because spoiler alert of the reveal that the Pern books are science fiction and not high fantasy which you could easily be forgiven for believing after the vaguely medieval feel of the first three books.
There are serious problems in pacing, not only with the slow beginning but also with the cramped end, and when it comes to the finale the author is boxed in by how much has already been established in the series.

I can see how some readers have been upset over this, but I can also see why the author might not have intended it quite that way. Sorka makes a reluctant friend in Sean Connellone of the traveling folk. The problem is particularly intense toward the end — when an entire novel is squashed into pages — and in the opening sections, where the demands of the narrative give us essentially nothing happening exploring a new world means a lot of information to convey, but not necessarily much coherent narrativeand then the author makes that nothing happen very quickly.

Definitely a different feel, and some mccagfrey the details seem bizarre unless you know they’re winks and nods to already published books that take place in the future of the story’s timeline. And McCaffrey responds to that by barrelling through the material at breakneck pace.
