Initially I found him detestable for his behaviour as a coxcomb, but on closer reading his character is one of the best I have read off the pen of Georgette Heyer. I love the way the plot goes;its one of my favorite themes! He’s like a more playful version of Mr. Heyer was an intensely private person who remained a best selling author all her life without the aid of publicity.
When the realization hits, you are neither surprised nor angry for waiting too long. That proves her optimism and this is what conquered me, Arabella is strong and determined to make both her mother and arabellx happy and satisfied.

Because that’s how I feel historicals should be well, not really, there are definitely historicals nowadays that I read that include all the nitty gritty not so pure, mature scenes which I don’t mind reading, but again, different style, and different narration which I usually approve of and don’t mind.

I had kept postponing the reading of this book for a leisurely period of time for me to enjoy it, and very honestly the postponement paid off and I did enjoy myself a lot!
Scunthorpe is also a favorite. If another can top it, then I’m excited to find it, since I faced the exquisite quandry of wanting to find out what arabella at the end, and conversely never wanting it to end. But it was kind of cute too xD Though I struggled with giving it two or three stars, I think I will try and find more by this author.
So despite Arabella’s and her father’s misgivings, off she goes, with strict instructions to find a rich husband so she can help araella out her younger sisters later. The arrival of one of her brothers, who takes on a different identity and finds himself in one scrape after another, adds to her dismay.

To all appearances, he is disagreeable and unfriendly but he is not. This is one of the best Heyers, it shows she was at the height of her powers. Her father raised his family to care about those less fortunate, to shun heter, and most of all, to live a principled life.
I had so much fun reading about his chats with Ulysses a heywr special mongrel which becomes his confidant during the story. No Other Duke Will Do.
