The prose here is absolutely top notch, with single, terrifyingly beautiful passages ligotit I would find myself reading repeatedly to myself before being able to move on. The voice in my head keeps reciting these old principles of mine.
Both classy and surreal, Ligotti has a great grasp on describing dreams, visions, and so forth, frightening you without the viscera, often with endings that leave you thinking.

In Ligotti, it feels more like a generalized given, nighymare stage backdrop, a modern stand-in for the default “old dark woods” of fairy tales. Very little seems to be known about Ligotti, but to judge from his stories, he is well traveled, has a superb command of setting and tone nlghtmare well as of the English language, and is strongly biased toward the darker end of the fantasy spectrum.
Turning the abstract matter of our unguarded dreaming moments into vivid and compelling nightmares. It is a style of writing that I cannot clearly identify. This is an excellent collection of horror stories, and most of them follow entirely original concepts.
